Music: Classical Mozart Under the Stars

The fact that many consider an evening of Mozart a highbrow affair is surprising, considering the Viennese composer's penchant for scatalogical compositions. Tonight's Hollywood Bowl selection celebrates the Austrian maestro's magic, with Ch'io mi scordi di te, a concert aria Mozart wrote for his mistress, and Exsultate Jubilate, a soprano-driven solo motet. Also on tonight's bill is Overture to La clemenza di Tito, Mozart's last operatic work — a full-blown orchestral affair written to celebrate the coronation rites for Emperor Leopold of Prague. Bring your own picnic and celebrate under the stars; benches begin at just a buck.
