What do submerged nudes, fire-ravaged landscapes, and monstrous energy towers have in common? Not much at first glance, but they're all featured in In the Eye of the Beholder, a group show of works on paper. Each exhibited artist has a unique style: Elizabeth Patterson's masterful combination of colored pencil, graphite, and solvent on illustration board achieves a hyperrealistic effect, making her compositions larger than life, while Jennifer Celio's softly rendered drawings of urban exploration capture natural elements and their intersection with city life. Ultimately, what these works share is an inclination toward detail that illuminates every one of their varied subjects.
