Art Aragna Ker: Et tout ce que l’Idylle a e plus enfantin (Of all to make and idyll in a childish way)

Cambodian artist Aragna Ker can't help but poke and prod at cultural meanings until they fall apart. His elaborate mixed-media installations infuse Asian traditions of ritual and ceremony with a contemporary Western flair and explore the fine line between assimilation and individuality. His pieces co-opt images of Japanese cutouts, church steeples, and decorative patterns to illustrate conflicts, like nature vs artifice or individual vs culture, in carefully controlled experiments. While Ker may be influenced by a range of cultural signifiers, it's clear that his perspective is his own.
