For artists who don't yet sustain themselves from their work, there are myriad ways to bring in some income — peddling smocks is one of them. Chinatown's Smockshop is collaborating with renowned designer Andrea Zittel on a program that allows artists to create one-of-a-kind smocks — yes, those versatile dress-like garments — by interpreting Zittel's originals, which they can then sell. Summer Smockshop runs through the end of September and also offers a range of performances and events.
