Music: Rock/Pop Bloc Party

Sold Out!

Britain's flagship post-punk revivalists, Bloc Party, are in the midst of a makeover. The quartet's latest singles, "Flux" and "Mercury," have eschewed Silent Alarm's angular guitars in favor of the more polished electronic production that began appearing on sophomore release A Weekend in the City, and the sonic shift suits the band well. The Party's pop sensibilities, along with frontman Kele Okereke's yelpy tenor and earnest lyrics, fit more comfortably alongside Girls Aloud than Gang of Four — and with dance punk no longer the genre du jour, there's definitely a little more coin in crossover pop anyway.
