Performing Arts Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys 5th Anniversary Show

It takes a special talent to simultaneously celebrate and lampoon the cherished art forms of bygone days. For five years now, the coy, witty, and disarmingly unironic Janet Klein has woven together a monthly program of turn-of-the-century song selections, vintage short films, and obscure surprises. Klein is helped out by an entourage of doe-eyed history nerds, and the group's flair for unintentional comedy is unparalleled. Tonight's fifth-anniversary party, which features an appearance by painter and banjo great John Reynolds, is a pageant of wild times, the likes of which haven't been seen since someone spiked Garrison Keillor's picnic punch.
