Many superlatives define LA: best weather, most celebrities — and largest active landfill in the nation. As part of its ongoing exhibit Post Consumed: The Landscape of Waste in Los Angeles — which examines the growing population's post-consumer waste — the CLUI (Center for Land Use Interpretation) has arranged a Trip to the Dump. Just like it sounds, the bus tour of the massive Puente Hills Landfill near Whittier leads locals down the trail of consumption from the supermarket to the trash bin to the garbage truck to the Mount Everest of rubbish in our own backyard.
