Adi Da Samraj's images are products of mashed-together visual strategies, evoking everything from Mondrian's primary-color palette and geometric line work to Lichtenstein's fragmentation of familiar images to op art's hyper-precise psychedelia. The results of these bold juxtapositions are compelling quasi-spiritual vortexes, cheerful interference patterns, and visions of an optimistic modernism. An in-gallery discussion lead by critic Peter Frank takes place on Thursday, August 21, at 7pm, during which high-brow scholarship, conceptual theory, and inventive, obsessive draftsmanship vie for your attention.
