The recent success of Thao Nguyen's We Brave Bee Stings and All has ushered the young artist into SF's indie-rock pantheon. Aided by her genre-defying band, the Get Down Stay Down, Nguyen plays folk music with an almost terrifying level of vigor, singing about childhood fear and uncertainty with authority, as her acoustic guitar and pliant voice recall influences ranging from early-'90s slacker-savant indie rock to marching-band tunes. Portland's Horse Feathers open with sweet, tranquil folk.
