Engineering Cinémathèque: Films from Slamdance
-
- Burke Roberts, founder of Bizzurke Army
The Engine is an ultra-modern film-projection device that blends sculptural form with engineering function to unique effect. This fancy gizmo is at the heart of the Engineering Cinémathèque's summer film series, and is employed tonight by the Slamdance Film Festival to showcase some of the best works screened there in the last year. Eight filmmakers see their award-winning pieces projected through the Engine's 1,000-pound steel hulk and onto a rotating 17-foot screen. After the screenings, there is complimentary beer and wine, and more experimental moving pictures presented by the self-styled "techno-primitive" cinema group Bizzurke Army.
