For the second year in a row, the New LATC concocts an enthralling admixture of theatre, dance, and performance that brings together new work and new artists — as well as old favorites — for its Face of the World Festival. Sprung from the idea that urban art should reflect its city's inhabitants, FOTW 08 is loaded with a diverse range of aesthetics, ethnicities, provocations, and experiments. September's offerings include the West Coast premiere of one of the most popular Spanish zarzuelas, Las Leandras; a double bill of humorous self-deprecation from John Fleck and Sandra Tsing Loh; and Amy Hill's musings on identity reinvention.
