From Brandon Boyd's paintings to Scion and ill-Studios' curatorial collaboration and Alexander Melamid's hip-hop portraits, music-related art has been blanketing LA's gallery walls this month. Now, former drummer for the Replacements, Chris Mars, hops on that medium-blending trend, displaying a series of cleanly rendered, nightmarish fantasy portraits. In conjunction with a new Billy Shire Fine Arts exhibition, the reclusive Minneapolis-based artist signs copies of Tolerance, his hefty (and completely "green") monograph, newly released from the gallery's own publishing imprint.
