Krunk announces its presentation of the weekend pop-up show Futura: Strategic Synchronicity in the Pacific Electric Lofts vast ground floor gallery space on Downtown's Main Street, while Phantom Galleries and Edgar Varela Fine Arts partner up to mount a show in the Los Angeles Street-facing exhibition space in the same building. At Phantom, Emmeric Konrad's heavily worked, sensual lines and saturated colors and Patrick Chapman's muscular, mixed media paintings, with their heady mix of intimate symbolism and bold gestural technique, form the ideal counterpart to what Futura, the legendary graf guru turned gallery goldmine, promises will be an urbane tour de force. Both Futura and Konrad get dirty with live painting actions during their respective opening receptions.
