Before "crossover" and before the Misfits (who join the tour's next leg), Motorhead were the ultimate diplomats in the punk/metal peace accords. For all their hard-rock leanings, Lemmy's classic death wish "I don't wanna live forever!" wasn't all that removed from Johnny Rotten's "no future" nihilism. The band laid the framework for Slayer's thrash metal, but their primordial biker stomp was still universal enough to land them on the Young Ones, just weeks after post-punk jokers like Madness and Pigbag. 2008's Motorizer sounds more or less like everything else since Overkill. But, especially when bands as disparate as Liars and Disfear are mining your ore, you might as well stick with the studded leather that suits you.
