Corey Helford Gallery says…

The dangerous, abiding love for donuts that torments the psyche of the modern robot is at the center of the universe inhabited by SF-based painter Eric Joyner. Chronicling the tin men's search for the frosted, sprinkled treats across time and space has occupied Joyner's waking and dreaming life for nearly a decade. His luminous, thickly painted, vaguely vintage style of representation turns the Wyeth school on its head, especially in the service of Joyner's deadpan surrealism — the robots' latest misadventures take them to train yards, abandoned donut mills, and nightclubs. The exhibition doubles as a book-release party for Joyner's new Dark Horse-published tome, aptly titled Robots & Donuts.
