In tandem with the release of his book, 73 Funshine, San Francisco-based artist Jason Jägel exhibits a collection of music-inspired work. Part of the exhibition consists of paintings of album covers from bands both real and invented, and faux-vinyl records made by putting pencil to paper. (A devoted hip-hop fan, Jägel also has created cover art for releases from Stones Throw Records.) New York's Hope Gangloff simultaneously shows work at Richard Heller; her stylized figurative paintings are jaunty, richly hued portraits that make subtle forays into abstraction and pattern.
