Roberts + Tilton becomes the latest A-list LA gallery to take up residence in Culver City, throwing a mammoth group show and housewarming party on the single busiest night of the season. Appropriately entitled Macrocosm, the exhibition draws from the gallery's considerable international roster of artists whose figurative paintings both embrace and explode their historical influences. From works by Faris McReynolds to Ellen De Meutter, Barry McGee to Matt Leines, the interplay between large-scale composition and fervently wrought detail not only makes for a lively and impressive group show, but acts as a metaphor for how art seeks to express the big ol' world on a human scale.
