The small but influential Torrance Art Museum simultaneously mounts three new solo exhibitions, united by highly stylized explorations of abstraction and color. The Maize Project, in the main gallery, features a site-specific installation by Eric Johnson, a massive sculptural piece painstakingly crafted out of hundreds of individually cast resin parts. Italian artist Marco Castentini mounts his installation Have a Nice Day in the museum's project space, filling his canvases with colorful, geometric abstractions. Finally, Mary Pichette offers Building into Shadows, a small collection of organically abstracted pastel drawings. A series of gallery talks with the exhibitions' curators and artists dots the schedule throughout the run.
