In previous collaborations between Julia Meltzer and David Thorne, audiences have been offered printed manifestos, photographic projects on public billboards, and videos featuring documentary footage and para-historical interviews, all in an effort to investigate and visually represent political and social power struggles. In the most recent installment of the pair's ongoing project In Possession of a Picture, the two train their politically sensitized viewpoints on a fresh civil-liberties wound — the rash of folks being detained for taking pictures of landmarks, banks, casinos, and other tourist spots — by recreating their unwitting Patriot Act violations.
