Moira Hahn is known for conceptually complex, masterfully rendered mash-up paintings in which wild and domestic animals play the roles of historical figures from the folkloric tradition of Japanese ukiyo-e. (Our favorite features tabbies in kimonos battling flying dragons in lotus fields). In her latest series of watercolors, Hahn focuses her skill and wit on topics surrounding the environmental crisis and man's role in exacerbating it. At times, the pieces hint at a kingdom to come, one where man has made himself obsolete and the rest of the animal species have begun civilization anew.
