The culture-forward productions at Hollywood's famed Theatre of NOTE are the conscience of LA's independent stage scene, proffering classics, revivals, and boundary-exploding originals all year long. But high art ain't cheap, so it's time for the famed Performance Marathon — an all-day/night program of short dramas, comedies, monologues, and at least one opera — a fund-raising tradition now in its 14th year. With local scene-stealers in rotation, such as the caped, crusading singer/songranter the Dark Bob; everyone's favorite lesbian folk singer, Phranc; and award-winning pioneers of the West Coast performance-art scene Culture Clash and John Fleck, don't plan on making it home until morning.
