Note:
The artist gives a pair of gallery talks this week. Wednesday, March 18 (5pm); and again on Saturday, March 21 (3pm) in conjunction with the monthly Miracle Mile Art Walk.
Like many photographers, Jeremy Kidd is drawn to sweeping vistas, from the high desert to the ocean floor, and from suburbia to the most recognizable urban skylines and architectural monuments in the world. But unlike most, Kidd is dissatisfied with any single view or condition of daylight, no matter how majestic — so he sets about remaking the world through the prism of his own sight. Through a labor-intensive digital process akin to painting with pixels, Kidd stitches together seamless images that combine not only multiple physical perspectives, but a plurality of times of day, weather conditions, and exposures, creating strange but familiar kaleidoscopic parallel realities.
