Note:
An exhibition discussion takes place Friday, January 23 (6-7pm) and is followed by an opening reception (7-9pm).
Austrian architect and SCI-Arc alum Susanne Zottl seeks out man-made environments and historic structures, fusing the world's existing space with her fresh designs. Not one to be confined by the once-dogmatic boundaries of architectural purism, Zottl also incorporates interior design and art exhibitions into her work. Tonight, the Viennese designer presents a site-specific installation at her alma mater, revealing why some architects don't need to build edifices in order to create new experiences of space. A Styrofoam Lover with (E)motions of Concrete addresses the need for energy conservation, while also offering up an intriguing method of preserving and developing structures that already exist.
