Photographer Marianne Mueller and painter Penelope Gottlieb unite their disparate styles in this visual double bill at the Kim Light/Lightbox Gallery. The stark contrast between the two artists highlights the uniqueness of their art-making: Mueller's black-and-white photography — often featuring everyday items juxtaposed in clever, thoughtful compositions — uses the banal to reveal our most intimate vulnerabilities; Gottlieb's lighthearted and vivid paintings of wallpaper-like motifs with comic-strip flowers playfully balance out Mueller's pensive, serious work.
