Wignall Museum/Gallery at Chaffey College says…

From psychedelic ceramics to custom-knitted army-tank cozies, the Arts and Crafts movement is thriving at Chaffey College's Wignall Museum in Rancho Cucamonga. Art-history professor Mara Elena Buszek curated Raised in Craftivity's selection of pottery, beadwork, woodwork, embroidery, and knitting, aiming to elevate the oft-scorned crafts genre into something more than a domestic pastime. Transforming the once-greenhorn media are 14 artists, including Elaine Bradford, Orly Cogan (noted embroiderer of delightfully inappropriate, hyper-sexualized compositions), and self-described "guerilla knitters" KnittaPlease. Related events help bring it all home, including The Extreme Crafts Roadshow with Garth Johnson on Monday, February 9, and Ernest Arthur Bryant III's lecture on Monday, March 2.
