Experts in the unexpected, James Naccarato, Erik Alos, and Lauren Bergman all employ the stylistic underpinnings found in pop surrealism, combining the high with the low in surprising juxtapositions. Using a contemporary visual vernacular, Alos is the most traditional surrealist of the bunch, with his figurative paintings evoking a Dalí-esque sense of the macabre. Naccarato's dreamlike subject matter also often slides into more sinister meaning, exemplifying the subversive nature of his underground-born style. Bergman's soft watercolor palette, however, is in stark contrast to her scenes of domestic dysfunction, evoking the true spirit of the surrealist non sequitur.
