Performing Arts: Theatre

West Fest 2009 New Works Festival

Hollywood's Theatre West has been providing challenging workshops, staging world-class performances, and giving back to the community for 47 years. LA's longest-running continuously operating nonprofit theater, it also offers an annual New Works Festival, extending the finest in unseen experimental productions to performing arts fans citywide. From unusual perspectives on historic figures to unlikely musicals, this year's series might be the company's most compelling yet. Highlights include a book-club showdown, Bodice Rippers; a supernatural life-support musical, Two Lives; and Sally Spectre, the Musical, a self-proclaimed "children's horror story for adults."
