Now in its ninth year in San Francisco, the Edwardian Ball finally comes to Los Angeles. With its cavalcade of exuberant cirque, burlesque, dance, and music, the event is tailored to evoke a steampunked vision straight out of Edward Gorey's phantasmic art-nouveau-meets-Poe art works. Performing acts include Cirque Berserk's punk-rock clowns; Rosin Coven, playing chamber music hybridized with French cabaret, tango, and klezmer; and the aerialists, go-go dancers, and acrobats of the Vau de Vire Society. Absinthe flows freely throughout, and attendees are strongly advised to dress to the nines — or the times, as it were.
