LA's monthly mixed-media Mardi Gras kicks off '09 with a series of girl-centered shows. Pharmaka's New Mythologies presents the works of six LA-based female artists, divulging universal themes of spirituality, science, and psychology. Phantom Galleries and THE Magazine explore themes of feminine power in What’s the Matter with Mommy, the Hang-Over, a multimedia celebration of alternative icons featuring 30+ artists. For its part, Phantom's huge adjacent space in the PE Lofts on Main & 6th hosts Lilli Muller's ambitious four-person curatorial project, Change is the Only Constant...part 2. The new feature ArtWalk Visa pushes things into the internet age, allowing web-enabled phone users to track their progress across the 20+ participating galleries in the neighborhood.
