Brendan Monroe's paintings, sculptures, installation-based works, and publications, despite the differences dictated by mediums, expound the artist's unique interpretation of the real, imagined, and unknown territories explored by the human mind. His visceral, thick, and warmly painted, abstractly surreal topographies—and the alternately fierce and gentle visages of the creatures that populate them—are as seductive and frightening as dreams. A new body of work questions the possibility of home in a world constantly in motion, from the vantage point of his recent relocation from Berkeley to Stockholm.
