In an exclusive one-week engagement, the Landmark Nuart Theatre screens Akira Kurosawa's 1950 masterpiece, Rashōmon, with a brand new 35mm restored print courtesy of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. After a woman is raped and her husband, a samurai, is murdered, a series of flashback sequences reveal the truth behind the violent crimes. But as the story is told through four different witnesses (including the rape victim herself), the authenticity of each account is disputable. The film stars Toshirō Mifune in his breakout role, and features masterful camerawork by Kurosawa collaborator Kazuo Miyagawa.
