Art Center College of Design says…

South Campus | Wind Tunnel Gallery

950 South Raymond Avenue, Pasadena CA 91105

The art of printmaking, like the other applied arts, is slowly dying out as new technologies make it possible to print in vaster quantities at faster speeds, all the while never touching ink, paper or screens. Netherlands-based designer Harmen Liemburg, like a handful of artists globally, is keeping hands-on print methods alive while engaging new technologies and new materials in order to make a hybrid practice that celebrates tradition, history and innovation.

In this spirit Harmen has created ULTRALIGHT a temporary archive that shares the process, craft and inspiration materials used by this international recognized designer. It exposes the source materials, color separated printing plates (transparent), uncut printing plates, and final products in order to create an atmosphere of study, industry, and color, showing not only the final product, but the essential research and processes by which these products are created, both industrial, technical and creative.

Wind Tunnel Gallery entrance is through the Graduate Art Complex courtyard at South Campus.
