Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, and now Antichrist: Lars von Trier goes to every emotional and cinematographic extreme to bring audiences bizarre, intense stories. Historical documents about witchcraft are woven throughout this tale of a haunted cabin located deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest called Eden. Serge Gainsbourg's daughter Charlotte stars as "She," a grieving mother who might be possessed while husband/therapist "He" (Willem Dafoe) is determined to coach the pain out. Depressed during production, von Trier maintains that this is his stab at exorcizing personal demons. Lord have mercy on us.
