The AFI film festival gathers even more steam this year with increasingly more prolific films than previous years and a cool Recession-themed free movie ticket giveaway (offered in limited supplies) at every screening. Festival highlights include Monique's much talked-about moment, Precious (based on the novel Push by Sapphire), the late Heath Ledger's posthumous morality tale The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and fashionista Tom Ford's surprisingly subtle film adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's LA masterpiece, A Single Man.
