Writer Margaret Atwood is a petite, gray-topped Canadian woman. What she puts on paper, despite forays into politics and economics, is fierce, apocalyptic science fiction — though she has said frequently that she prefers the phrase "speculative fiction" because sci-fi implies space creatures and nonsense, thank you very much. In a career filled with dozens of novels and poetry (The Robber Bride, The Handmaid's Tale, and The Blind Assassin included), Atwood has been on many a book tour, and she's tired of the routine. For her latest release, Year of the Flood, she develops performance pieces in each city on her schedule. In LA, she joins forces with the local a capella sextet Sonos, normally given to tunes by Fleet Foxes and Radiohead. Atwood has them singing the hymns of God's Gardeners, the eco-friendly religious cult from the pages of her new book.

Margaret Atwood presents and signs The Year Of The Flood

This event will be held at UCLA's Royce Hall.

The long-awaited new novel from Margaret Atwood. The Year of the Flood is a dystopic masterpiece and a testament to her visionary power.
