Note:
Take a look at a recent photo essay of the LA River over on Flavorwire.
The Los Angeles River has often endured continuous criticism for being a useless eyesore, yielding foot-high sludge instead of flowing water. Fortunately, artists and activists alike have been rediscovering its haunting beauty, and its potential both as a site of creative exploration and a recreation destination. Recently, designers, architects, engineers, and planners at Sweden's Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm studied ways in which re-development of the River would be both beautiful and functional. Now, Angelenos themselves have the opportunity to review the plans at Gallery 127 Downtown, which, in addition to proposing a project of major adaptive reuse also address a magical "future without fossil fuels."
