Double Feature: Los Angeles Premiere! MUSIC ON HOLD (MUSIC EN ESPERA), 2009, Outsider Pictures, 106 min. Dir. Hernán A. Golfrid. Two opposites - blocked composer Ezequiel and unwed pregnant bank executive Paula - are drawn together when Ezequiel finds inspiration in a piece of music he hears while on hold with the bank where Paula works. He needs the music, and Paula needs a guy to pass off as her boyfriend to her visiting mother. What ensues is one of the most delightful pairings in recent cinema. Discussion between films with director Hernan Golfrid.
ANITA, 2009, Distribution Company, 104 min. Dir. Marcus Carnivale. Anita, a girl with Down Syndrome, lives a happy life, lovingly cared for by her mother (Norma Aleandro), who runs a small stationery store in a Jewish neighborhood in Buenos Aires. One day, Anita’s mother goes out to cash a subsidy check she uses to care for Anita and never returns… Discussion following with director Marcos Carnevale.
