Mapping the musical topography of the vast state of California, the LA Philharmonic's three-week West Coast, Left Coast Festival brings some of our best performances to Walt Disney Concert Hall. The KCRW-sponsored music celebration of left-coast creativity is curated by the Creative Chair at the LA Phil, John Adams, who maintains that the festival's aim "is to discover whether there is indeed such an identifying characteristic as the California sensibility. Kicking off the festival Saturday, November 21 is the EUREKA! Festival Opening Event, which includes music by Kronos Quartet, Terry Riley, Matmos, and Mike Einziger. November 22, the Los Angeles Master Chorale performs music by four Left Coast composers, including the LA premiere of native New Yorker Ingram Marshall's Savage Altars.

Walt Disney Concert Hall says…

Fearless iconoclasts Kronos Quartet, performing a piece from award-winning film composer Thomas Newman. Visionary master of minimalism, Terry Riley. Brainy electronica assemblagists Matmos. And Incubus’ psycho-musicologist, Mike Einziger.

These cutting edge California artists come together for one incredible evening of solo performances and exclusive collaborations. Drawing inspiration from their mutual admiration and respect, as well as their own West Coast roots, expect a unique tapestry of combined influences and extraordinary talents.
