This evening celebrates two storytelling achievements centered around music and social justice. Author Antonino D'Ambrosio's book A Heartbeat & A Guitar lays out the story behind Johnny Cash's album Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian. The Joe Strummer biopic Let Fury Have The Hour, produced by Tim Robbins and based on D'Ambrosio's book of the same name, illuminates the global activist legacy of the Clash's iconic frontman. Shepard Fairey's original artwork for both the book and the movie is displayed, with Wayne Kramer of the MC5 performing with special guests. You can pore over photos of Cash and Strummer as well as view a screening of Let Fury Have The Hour. It's a multimedia smorgasbord for the social activist and the arty party-hopper alike.
