Note:
The exhibition continues through December 11.
The exhibition Without a Car in the World, in which artist Diane Meyer explores the lifestyles of 100 non-vehicular Angelenos, is nothing if not a conversation starter. Choosing the vagaries of bike path and bus map-based living over car culture has a way of eliciting reactions from incredulity to sympathy, alarm to inspiration, and anger to awe in our fellow citizens. Merging photography, testimonials, and documentation and a slate of public events, the exhibition rehabilitates the image of pedestrians and Metro riders alike. This afternoon's event features performance artist Kristina Wong at her deliriously misunderstood best, sharing the adventures of her real and false personae as they navigate the LA landscape as the title suggests, without wheels.
