Beverly Hills's TASCHEN outpost hosts a book signing for Alex Steinweiss, Inventor of the Modern Album Cover by Kevin Reagan. Drawing on the legacy of Columbia Records' visionary art director, the publication chronicles the history of music packaging since 1940, which has since evolved into an art form. Applying progressive graphic design principles, Steinweiss transformed the nature of the record industry, which has come to rely upon the artistic value of an album's eye-catching visuals almost as much as the music itself.
