Liz Pappademas plays the Hyperion Tavern tonight, bringing tunes from her forthcoming concept album, Television City. The new tracks tell the story of a fictional game show from the perspective of the contestants, the host, and the folks at home watching the tube. More pop than Pappademas’ beautiful, piano-led debut 11 Songs, Television City evokes an old-time Hollywood full of flashbulbs and laugh tracks.
