ArtDontSleep and Mochilla team up to curate Timeless, a music series spotlighting composer/arrangers who paved the way for contemporary beat makers. To kick off the quartet of events, Mulatu Astatke takes the stage with a 15-piece orchestra behind him; blending jazz and Latin elements with traditional music from his native Ethiopia, Astatke's been at the forefront of Afro-jazz since the '60s. His impact becomes further evident when turntable legend Cut Chemist, dance-jazz master Quantic, and funk-music champion DJ Egon spin sets rooted in Astatke's global-fusion style.
