English scientist Charles Darwin revolutionized natural history with his Origin of Species, but the Victorian paleo-rebel's influence also extends to disciplines outside science. In honor of the naturalist's 200th birthday, USC's Master of Professional Writing program brings acclaimed scientists and poets to the Natural History Museum to examine Darwin's influence on poetry. Pulitzer Prize-winning poet/Harvard prof Jorie Graham joins California poet laureate Carol Muske-Dukes, and two USC scientists to look at how Darwin's paradigm-shifting methodology affected the work of '60s poet Elizabeth Bishop, among others. A reception follows, soundtracked by a string quartet from the Thornton School of Music.
