Constancy isn't former Archers of Loaf frontman Eric Bachmann's stong suit. As Crooked Fingers, the college-rock demagogue uses a rotating lineup to play everything from modest Americana to down-home and salsa-fried indie bangers. Having left the uber-indie Merge Records, Bachmann may be out on his own — but he certainly isn't alone. His new record, the aptly named Forfeit/Fortune, returns to the lush orchestration of earlier days, setting his gravelly voice atop folked-up, Springsteen-style jams. He hits the Bordello bar tonight for a set of his dark, indie ballads.
