Add to the list of great historical art movements like Impressionism, Cubism, and Abstract Expressionism a brand-new, admittedly less erudite genre: Wicked Awesome-ism. In an art moment carried by the low-down, the outsider, the cheeky, the urban, and the fraught, Melissa Manfull's impossibly precise confections of architectural fancy couldn't be more welcome. Her large, crisp drawings possess the obsessive, joyful repetition of the old-school Spyrograph, while the nimble imagination of Escher is evident in their stalactite-like structures, which both mimic and defy the laws of physics.
