Studio 1636 says…

A veneration of global artists on the perimeter, the Engine Collision Festival is an 11-day blowout of performances, films, and multimedia, with a transcendental eye on the state of art today. David Lynch delivers a number of his rare shorts on the event's portable light-and-steel sculpture, which buttresses a 16-foot movie screen (aka "the Engine"). Also screening are films by winners of Slamdance and Zero Fest, as well as the Sundance-winning feature American Astronaut. Book-release parties and readings cover topics as wide as Warhol, Laura Palmer, and '60s German model Uschi Obermaier, while acts like Zig Zag blur boundaries between film, performance, and real life. Eye-opening fashion, music, art installations, and videos further challenge the current limitations of categorical artistic expression.
