Jérôme Bel: Pichet Klunchun and Myself
Friday Feb 27, 2009 (8:30–10pm)
Saturday Feb 28, 2009 (8:30–10pm)
Sunday Mar 1, 2009 (7:30–9pm)

Jérôme Bel's intensive creative process beckons some of the world's most refined and boldly curious dancers — those who are looking to bend their talents toward conceptualism in performance. When Bel was invited to create a production with Pichet Klunchun, in Klunchun's native Taiwan, the process was short, and the vast cultural divide immense. Pichet Klunchun and Myself gracefully explores the complex vocabulary and precise representational movement of khon, the 200-year-old discipline of Thai classical dance, and lies it next to the witty and poignant musings of Bel's mystical notions of performance. Defying form in search of meaning, the piece ends up less dance theatre than theatre about dance.
