The deft footwork and fiery grace of Guillermina Quiroga's poetic variations on classical tango have the unique ability to appease an aficionado's sense of artistry as well as flutter the heart of any dance-loving neophyte. Championed by the seasoned milongueros of her native Argentina, Quiroga evolves tango beyond dance and music into mysterious tales with a weighty undercurrent of mythology. Featuring the tango orchestra Los Cosos de al Lao, under the direction of bandoneón player Cacho Acuna, Historias Breves features three short stories, distinct and unrelated, featuring exquisite solo, duet, and group dances with themes drawn from classical Argentinean poetry.
