The latest crop of participants in the MAK Center's noted six-month residency program for international emerging artists holds its Final Projects exhibition at the Schindler House galleries this month, including a free public reception for the artists. Combining animation with live action, Hanakam & Schuller's unconventional road-trip video comments on narrative conventions through LA's architecture, environment, and popular culture; Simon Fujiwara's performance and site-specific installation, meanwhile, draws unlikely comparisons between the Schindler House and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Alan Cimak reinvigorates the abandoned community of Surfridge with a film sculpture, and Schinegger & Rutzinger investigate the properties of anti-modular building and design elements, including snow, dust, and coral.
